I did this while waiting for the take-out to come. As soon as I laid the last wash, the man handed me the bags and off I went. Perfect timing. There's always the fear lurking that I won't have time to finish a sketch, with the subject walking off or something or other.

It's amazing how quickly you complete these sketches, especially with the washes. I always have the same fears, but mine usually do come to fruition leaving me with many only half completed, if that. So I take a snap of my scenes, start on-site, and finish later. One day I'll be faster.
Thanks for the sketch and inspiration!

Thanks David. I just realized that, as sick as it may sound, perhaps the fear and the risk of not being able to finish the sketch is part of the allure of doing it.
Stumbled accross your Sketch Blog.
Great Work

anthony- i totally get what your saying about the thrill. i always get nervous that i am going to get caught drawing someone. i am trying to do some memory exercises so that i can observe and sketch later, but the drawings always seem stiff
Yes! That's another one -- is the subject looking at me, and do they know that I'm drawing them?! It's enough to get the adrenaline going. Sometimes if I think the subject has caught on, I'll look then quickly pretend as if I'm looking at something else, trying to remember enough details to sketch a few lines. It's great, this tension!
