Jack drawing in Joan's studio

There was a fundraiser tonight at the local elementary school where my wife teaches art. This is from about an hour ago. Jack took a break to draw something, then I drew him. He got up eventually, leaving me to draw the studio classroom behind him. I may throw some watercolor on this at a later date...

MAN!! such confidence (i know i've said this before, but i'm really jealous)
do you do any construction or is it just line? your poses are so strong....
thanks for popping by my blog too!
Hi. I haven't commented before--and not being in your industry I don't have any professional criticism--but I enjoy your sketches and this one in particular moves me to comment. So much detail...the text on the poster, the brushes(?) under the masks, the folded corners of the blinds--either you spent a long time in that room or I would think you really enjoyed the space :) I like the perspective of the drawing, the view from your seat and how you framed it. I don't know if you did that consciously for this sketch or not, but it brings so many quick lines into one tight, realistic, interesting, narrative focus.
Anyway, thanks a lot for posting your work.
I find your blog incredibly satisfying... the seemingly quiet contemplation of and appreciation for the simple moments in life. Makes me want to sketch.
Whoa... that is pretty great. Tight but loose. And like any great drawing, it somehow naturally is a great composition as well. Now I am feeling small and inadequate...let me quote my friend Mike Vosburg: "Oh Exalted One,
I am on the floor of my studio prostrate, meditating on your magnificence!!!"
You leave me no other option but to find my sketchbook somewhere around here, and attempt to best you, you knave!
Hi, I just happened upon your website and I really like your work. I'm always looking for inspiration for my little med daily doodle site and your line work is really refreshing. I wish I could loosen up and display some of the confidence you possess, but I'm sure the years of experience and practice you have under your belt help with that. I did do some semi blind pen contours which forced me to create that flow you have in your drawings, but i'm still far from where you seem to be. Anyway just wanted to stop by and drop my compliments and I plan to drop by every so often. Oh and great composition by the way.
Anthony,
Just wanted to say how pleased I was to see you comment on my work over at Analog Artist Digital World. I have been checking your blog at least once a week for well over a year. It should go without saying that I am a fan of your intimated family sketches.
Great work Anthony, I just started watching your blog every now and then, it inspires me to draw everywhere and anywhere I go just like when I was in art school and we were "forced" to do it for research, lol. Now I WANT to do it, and use mediums like napkins and clothing if nothing else is available, haha
Wow, thank you all for the nice comments! I feel undeserving of this kind of talk, but thank you so much... It was a fun sketch to do. My wife had some nice music going and I just flowed with it.
Love the sketch Mr. Zierhut! I remember this date when jack went to the fundraiser and he told me he was bored and he was drawing. I did not know you drew him drawing though. NICE DRAWING!
anthony, this is fabulous. i love your blog. i should visit more, you know how it is, but please know how much i love your work.
This sketch is pretty amazing. Simple, clear and you managed to get some amazing details in there.
I likes it!
