Late night visitor

A neighborhood raccoon about the size of a medium-sized dog comes to our front porch a couple times a week. Sometimes we put peanuts out for him/her (not sure, so we've named him/her "Pat" -- in honor of the Julia Sweeney SNL skit, ha). He/she was moving quite a bit so I had to sketch a bit faster than usual to capture him/her.

Busy little thing, wasn't he/she? You really got that air of focused scavenging that raccoons are known for!

Very nice! I hadn't thought to sketch the racoons that frequent our back yard area. So you're training them to return, eh? Nothing like putting out food to get their expectations up!

You captured them just so, fur and funny hunched stature and all. Just be carefull though...two different friends of mine discovered they have raccoon families living in their attics, keeping them awake at night. They tried blocking the hole where they got in but one friend discovered they'd trapped them inside. They unblocked it and called Critter Control but they haven't been able to catch either set of raccoons and every night they're back, making a noisy stinky mess. And I hear they eat cats and carry rabies and are fearless around people. But they're so cute it's hard to resist them (until they move in I guess).

Thanks everyone. Yes, thanks Jana, we'll be careful -- although they look harmless you never know. It bears remembering that they are wild animals, despite what we might think.
