Jane at work during lunch

Since I've been working Saturdays for the last month or so, every weekend it's bring your kid to work day! This time it was Janie's turn. She looks like she was holding perfectly still, but not so: I started drawing her in one position, but she kept moving, eating, talking, so I had to interpolate the motion information to the pose. Kind of hard to do, in a fun way. She drew me too while I drew her.

It's fun watching your kids grow up via your blog. I love the way she's looking at you a little sideways with that knowing look. Sorry you're having to work Saturdays. Yuck.
what a lovely portrait, really catching the personality of your daughter (or does it?...)
whenever I need a break and a reminder of the joy that drawing and painting can bring, I come to your blog. I love the sketches and the personal touch of your writing. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of the simple beautiful things.
Thanks so much Jana, Su and Peter. It's fun that the kids enjoy coming to work with me. I think you can actually see them getting older in these sketches, since I've been blogging for a couple years now or so. Thanks Peter for saying that; that's actually so much of my angle on this, that simple normal things are so interesting. It makes me happy that it's coming across. Your daily painting practice inspires me every time I visit.
