Watching tv

I don't much like to watch tv, so while the family watched, I sketched them watching. The flu ran through our house these last few days and knocked me down for five days. Everybody is pretty much back to normal, thank goodness.

Anthony, I can't tell you enough how much I love the drawings of your family. They are so immediate and so well observed that I feel as if I am in the room with them. The composition of this one, all knitted together with your wonderful melting lines and warm tones, is just exquisite. More than any words could, it shows the closeness of your family and how much you love them. Lucky children to have this record of moments in their lives forever.

Thank you so much Laura. You have a beautiful way with words. I was actually thinking of not posting this one, because I think I made an error in proportions on Joan's head (poor Joan, if I err on a sketch it's usually on her). But as usual you made me glad that I did post it.

I'm very glad you posted this too, it's a wonderful scene! I agree, you capture so well the feeling of warmth and togetherness and as always your compositions are amazing to see! you are influencing me to try and get more of the whole scene that tells a story rather then a single individual as I usually do, I am finding it very difficult!

Your drawing brings back memories, with some longing for those days of family life, with everyone in bathrobes and blankies, cozy on a Sunday morning or laid up with colds. It's a beautiful touching drawing.
