Sunday, July 30, 2006At the animal hospital![]() Experimenting with some loose digital color over a sketch from yesterday afternoon. Friday, July 28, 2006Wednesday, July 26, 2006Monday, July 24, 2006Comicon '06As usual we took the train. There were five of us: Jack (of course), his friend Monty, my neighbor across the street Carlo, my good friend from college John, and me. Played a lot of "hangman" on the way. I did some sketching, but not as much as I should have, probably. On the way back the train broke down and left us on the platform at Laguna Nigel for about three hours. We got home at 3:00 am! Other than that it was a lot of fun. Friday, July 21, 2006From earlier this week...![]() Hah! I made an informational error in this drawing that's fairly obvious. See if anyone can figure it out. More sketches at the usual haunts ![]() Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll try my best to post some new sketches from the "Con. Excuses, excuses...
I've been remiss in posting because work has been crazy this week - trying to get stuff ready for the Comicon. It will be great hopping on the train tomorrow for San Diego with my son and geeking out for the day. It's usually a fun sort of sensory overload, and I look forward to getting some good art books and comics. Maybe some sketching will come out of it too.
Summer swimmin'![]() Last weekend we spent two days in two different pools. The kids loved it. This is where it paid off, dragging those poor kids to the local YMCA in the winter to their weekly swim lessons. Tuesday, July 11, 2006A watched pot never boils...![]() ...a sketched pot, however... This was the first time I've noticed that the steam doesn't come directly out of the spigot, but an inch or so away from it. File that in the "stuff you learn while sketching" dept. Wednesday, July 05, 2006Long July 4th weekend![]() We had a nice relaxing four-day weekend. We spent one day and one night up in the local mountains. Our friends let us stay with them in their beautiful, multi-level cabin-like summer home. I did some sketching - this view from the dining room table: ![]() Later we went out and had lunch. I sketched this view of a giant totem pole in the parking area while standing on the porch waiting for the kids to make their purchases in the candy shop: ![]() In all, it was some much needed relaxation. |
